Mom and Dad surprised Kirk, Laura and I with a New Years Cruise for Christmas. We flew from Winnipeg direct to NYC, yes these ships leave from NEW YORK CITY, to spend a night in a Midtown Hotel. Kirk and I hit Times Square that night but were still able to get up in time for Embarkation.
Laura slept in a Balcony Cabin Stateroom with mom and dad while Kirk and I shared an Inside State Room across the hall. Such an amazing day, Embarkation Day. Nothing but excitement, entertainment, usually a pretty good buzz, and a huge floating resort to explore.
Ship set sail, we ate, we drank, we explored and woke up in Port Canaveral, FL. We took a tour bus to Universal Studios Amusement Park where we spent the day taking rollercoaster rides like “Dueling Dragons” and “The Hulk”. New York City to Universal Studios. How awesome is that?

Next Port visited was Great Stirrup Cay, the five of us took in the big BBQ on the beach and just explored the island. This is the port owned my NCL (the cruise company) and is a relaxing place. Beaches, Beers, BBQ and the Caribbean Sea.
We spent New Years Eve on the ship, the staff did a fantastic job setting up a huge party on the Lido deck, where the main pool is. Decorated beautifully it felt like every passenger was out there counting down to 2008. Great experience and I can’t wait to spend New Years on deck again.
My favourite port of the trip was Nassau, Bahamas. Nassau houses the incomparable Atlantis Resort. This place is amazing. Take the Lazy river float around the whole complex, watch the stingrays, take in a dolphin show, or ride the fastest waterslide in the world. The “leap of faith” LOL close your eyes, say your prayers and jump down this almost vertical waterslide to get shot through a shark tank. Great fun, this ride had Kirk and I running up the stairs for more and more.

Back to NYC to spend one more night and back to Winnipeg. Man did I catch the Cruising Bug. Click another 👇👉
